Who You Are 

You are a dedicated, mission-aligned teacher passionate about the all-girls educational experience. Your teaching capabilities are specific to this role, but you can be versatile across subjects and/or grade levels. As an educator, you possess a deep understanding of and passion for the subjects you teach, fostering a supportive learning environment. You inspire students to reach their full potential, embracing the opportunity to make a lasting impact on tomorrow's leaders. As a colleague, you are positive and productive in your collaboration with others and it wouldn’t be uncommon for you to ask, “How can I help?”.

What You’ll Do

Teaching & Curriculum Development

  • Teach a variety of arts courses to middle school students.
  • Additional duties could include monitoring a daily study hall, advising a club and/or a hui (grade level), coaching a team, or employing other natural skills and abilities that you could contribute to our community.
  • Depending on the applicant's skills, opportunities to teach/participate in other courses may be available.

School-Wide Contributions

  • Support and uphold the School's mission and values.
  • Work with students, families, and school staff to promote student success and ensure student well-being.
  • Contribute to and support school-wide initiatives and events, including admissions, fundraising, and other community events.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to general faculty work, such as meetings and professional development, self-study/accreditation, curriculum planning, student supervision, special events, and more. We believe that many hands make light work so we all contribute to the success of the school, our students, and each other. 
  • Depending on your strengths, experience, and the enrollment needs, potentially teach classes other than Art.

Requirements

Essential requirements

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Art, Education, or a related field.
  • You have taught in a full-time capacity for at least two years (or the equivalent to two years full-time).
  • You are willing to teach other courses and/or grade levels, as needed.
  • You possess a strong awareness of the role boundaries between teacher and student while being a positive role model.
  • You're an engaged colleague who thrives on collaborating with other adults.
  • You understand and appreciate the context of an all-girls school and the culture, history, and diversity of Hawai‘i.
  • You will be here in-person, on campus, ready to get to work no later than July 31, 2026. This is non-negotiable.

  • Ability to move throughout a classroom and campus environment.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and community partners in both classrooms and group settings.
  • Ability to read and work with written and digital materials, including student work, instructional materials, and computer screens. 
  • Ability to use instructional technology and classroom and office equipment. 
  • Ability to supervise and respond to normal classroom movement and activity in a school environment. 
  • Ability to adapt instruction and classroom management strategies to support diverse learning needs.
  • Ability to travel off-campus for learning experiences.

Work Environment

  • This position operates primarily in a classroom, and occasionally outdoors, as appropriate to the lesson/performance.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work for school events.
