Apply NowDescription: La Pietra seeks a Head Coach to oversee the basketball program. This person will report to the Athletic Director. This position is a seasonal position to begin October 2025 through January 2026.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the entire basketball program at La Pietra
Assist Athletic Director with finding qualified assistant and lower-level coach(es)
Teach basketball fundamentals, beginner/advanced game concepts and strategy, and ensure overall player and team development at all three levels
Develop an action plan that includes off-season, preseason, and in-season objectives, goals, and action steps for continuity and overall program success
Model and teach character and sportsmanship in addition to teaching the skills and related aspects of basketball
Maintain effective communication with parents, athletes, and administration
Follow all La Pietra policies and procedures, including those related to safety and risk management
Attend all team meetings, practices, and competitions, and fulfill all other coaching responsibilities as required
Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of two years of experience as a head coach at the high school varsity level or three years of experience as a varsity assistant coach /junior varsity level head coach.
Strong knowledge of basketball and ability to teach and mentor coaches and players at all levels
Experience working with student-athletes
Demonstrated commitment to character development, sportsmanship, and educational athletics
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively with parents, athletes, and administration
Understanding of and commitment to La Pietra's mission and values
Must successfully pass background check and company-sponsored safety training
Completion of required NFHS Coaching courses required by the ILH & HHSAA

What you'll do
Alumnae & Community Engagement
- Plan and execute alumnae programs, events, and communications that foster meaningful engagement and strengthen lifelong connections to La Pietra.
- Maintain and grow relationships with alumnae across generations, coordinating reunions and other affinity-based gatherings.
- Produce alumnae newsletters, social media content, and updates in coordination with the communications team.
- Act as a key point of contact for the Alumnae Council and other volunteer leadership groups.
Advancement Support & Donor Stewardship
- Support the Director of Institutional Advancement in identifying, cultivating, and stewarding donors.
- Assist with the preparation of donor reports, acknowledgments, and gift tracking.
- Participate in planning and executing fundraising campaigns, events, and special initiatives.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive donor information.
Data & Systems Management
- Manage the school’s constituent relationship management (CRM) database with accuracy and efficiency.
- Update and maintain records related to alumnae, donors, and community partners.
- Generate reports, mailing lists, and analytics to support advancement and engagement goals.
- Ensure data integrity and alignment with institutional priorities.
Global Partnerships Liaison
- Serve as the primary contact for La Pietra – Hawai‘i School for Girls’ international partner schools and exchange programs.
- Support planning and logistics for inbound and outbound student exchanges and visits.
- Coordinate communication and relationship-building with global partners in collaboration with academic leadership.
- Maintain documentation and ensure smooth coordination of global initiatives.

Requirements: Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Prior experience in advancement, alumnae relations, event planning, or related fields preferred.

Familiarity with CRM or donor database platforms (e.g., Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge, or similar).

About the Role

What You’ll Do
Teaching & Curriculum Development
- Teach multiple sections of middle school and/or high school Art courses, including but not limited to Art 6, Art 7, Art 8, Introduction to Visual Arts, Painting, and Drawing. Some will be one semester courses, while others will be two semesters.
- Additional duties include monitoring a daily study hall, advise a club and/or advise a hui (grade level).
School-Wide Contributions
- Work with students, families, and school staff to promote student success and ensure student well-being.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives and events, including the Winter and Spring Arts Festivals and other opportunities to showcase student talents.

About the Place & Purpose Learning Role
