Program & Philosophy
La Pietra's athletic philosophy is to develop young women physically, emotionally, socially, and ethically. We believe that athletics can teach positive values, self-confidence, and respect for others. We believe that doing one's best and exhibiting good sportsmanship supersedes winning at all costs. This philosophy extends to our coaching staff who are all National Federation of High School (NFHS) certified.

6th Grade Sports Program & Philosophy
We offer six different sports for our students during their sixth grade year:
- Swimming (August - September)
- Volleyball (October - November)
- Track (January)
- Archery (March)
- Basketball (March - April)
- Tennis (May)
Middle School Sports Program & Philosophy
- Emphasizing participation
- Providing positive athletic experiences that teach valuable life lessons
- Preparing students for the transition to interscholastic competition at the high school level through development of fundamental skills, game strategy/knowledge, and game experience
We have a 'no cut' policy at the Intermediate level, which allows all students who desire to participate in a sport (Pac-5 teams may have try-outs and 'cuts' for teams depending on the sport and number of participants). Once students have signed up and joined a team, there is an expectation they attend all practices and competitions. There is no guarantee for equal playing time at the middle school level due to factors such as team size, level of player experience, and length of competitions. However, every student-athlete participates in practices, sport specific skill work, and the social interactions of being part of a team.
Students can only participate on one team each sport season due to the commitment level and expectations required to be a member of an ILH team. The Intermediate Sports offered are:Fall Season (August - October)
- Volleyball
- Pac - 5 Cheerleading
- Pac - 5 Cross Country
- Basketball
- Tennis
- Swimming & Diving
- Pac - 5 Wrestling
- Pac - 5 Soccer
- Archery
- Golf
- Pac - 5 Judo
- Pac - 5 Softball
- Pac - 5 Track
Upper School Sports Program & Philosophy
La Pietra's athletic philosophy at the Upper/High school level is to develop young women physically, emotionally, socially, and ethically. La Pietra’s High School interscholastic athletic program competes in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) and the Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA). Our Junior Varsity (JV) and Varsity teams strive to be competitive with the top athletic team in our league and the state of Hawaii. More importantly though, we believe that athletics provides student-athletes with exceptional opportunities to develop one’s character teaching positive values, building self-confidence, and instilling respect for others. We believe that doing one's best and exhibiting good sportsmanship supersedes winning at all costs.
Our La Pietra Lady Panthers coaching staff members are all NFHS certified and include numerous coaches who have competed at the collegiate and/or Olympic competition levels.
