Description
La Pietra seeks a Head Coach to oversee the basketball program. This person will report to the Athletic Director. This position is a seasonal position to begin October 2025 through January 2026.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the entire basketball program at La Pietra
Assist Athletic Director with finding qualified assistant and lower-level coach(es)
Teach basketball fundamentals, beginner/advanced game concepts and strategy, and ensure overall player and team development at all three levels
Develop an action plan that includes off-season, preseason, and in-season objectives, goals, and action steps for continuity and overall program success
Model and teach character and sportsmanship in addition to teaching the skills and related aspects of basketball
Maintain effective communication with parents, athletes, and administration
Follow all La Pietra policies and procedures, including those related to safety and risk management
Attend all team meetings, practices, and competitions, and fulfill all other coaching responsibilities as required
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of two years of experience as a head coach at the high school varsity level or three years of experience as a varsity assistant coach /junior varsity level head coach.
Strong knowledge of basketball and ability to teach and mentor coaches and players at all levels
Experience working with student-athletes
Demonstrated commitment to character development, sportsmanship, and educational athletics
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively with parents, athletes, and administration
Understanding of and commitment to La Pietra's mission and values
Must successfully pass background check and company-sponsored safety training
Completion of required NFHS Coaching courses required by the ILH & HHSAA
Position Details
- Salary: $2,500 for the ’23-24 season
- Department: Athletics
- Status: Part-time, seasonal; 1099 Independent contractor
- Work year: Seasonal, October through February
- Work hours: After school during the week and some Saturdays for competition
