Hawai‘i School for Girls Named New Home of Hawai‘i Chamber Music Festival’s Young Artist Program

Hawai‘i School for Girls at La Pietra (HSG) and the Hawai‘i Chamber Music Festival (HCMF) are proud to announce a new partnership that brings together educational excellence and artistic opportunity. Beginning this summer, HSG will serve as the official home of the Hawai‘i Chamber Music Festival’s highly acclaimed, tuition-free Young Artist Program (YAP), now rebranded as the Young Artist Program at La Pietra. HSG will also host HCMF’s finale orchestra concert of the festival season at La Pietra on Sunday, June 21, highlighting the active collaboration between both organizations and bringing world-class music directly to the La Pietra campus and the broader community.
Rooted in a shared commitment to learning, creativity, and community, the partnership marks a moment where education and artistry converge. Located at the base of Diamond Head, the historic La Pietra campus—long recognized for its academic rigor and cultural significance—will now also serve as a vibrant summer hub for music. The campus will host Young Artist rehearsals, guest artist masterclasses, and community-centered musical experiences that inspire the next generation of musicians.
“We are honored to welcome the Hawai‘i Chamber Music Festival’s Young Artist Program to Hawai‘i School for Girls at La Pietra. This partnership reflects our shared belief in the power of education and the arts to shape confident, creative, and compassionate young people,” said Head of School Jennifer Grems. “By opening our historic campus to young artists and audiences from across Hawai‘i, we are creating a space where world-class, meaningful learning, and shared purpose come together in powerful ways.”
Chris Yick, Founder and President of the Hawai‘i Chamber Music Festival, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration:
“We are deeply honored to partner with Hawai‘i School for Girls at La Pietra, a legacy institution that has served our community for more than 60 years. This partnership is made possible by the remarkable talent of our local youth, and it represents an exciting new chapter for our Young Artist Program. Together with HSG, we look forward to inspiring the next generation of young musicians and continuing to cultivate a love of the arts for all ʻohana and communities across Hawai‘i.”
As the new home for YAP, La Pietra will provide an enriching environment where young artists can engage in intensive chamber music study while learning alongside world-class faculty and guest artists. The partnership reinforces both organizations’ dedication to access, excellence, and fostering meaningful opportunities for students throughout Hawai‘i.
