La Pietra's 6th Grade Swim Team featured on HI Now

La Pietra's mission is to educate young women to lead a life of purpose. In order to help guide them on this mission, the school offers students opportunities both inside and outside the classroom to find that passion.
Outside of school, Senior Emma R. has always loved the water and ocean activities and has even worked as a swimming aid at a swim school and got her lifeguard certification. So when she was asked to pass down her skills and help teach the 6th grade swim team under the guidance of Athletics Director Ross Kinsler, it was a new leadership opportunity she couldn't pass up!
"I think swimming is a really important skill to have living in Hawaii," Emma says. "Since those things bring me so much happiness, I just really enjoy being able to help younger students to also learn about that."
HI Now Host Rachel Pacarro visited the La Pietra campus on the team's last day of practice and got a front row seat to see how far they had come thanks to Emma's teaching. Her experience is just one example of the unique leadership opportunities La Pietra is able to provide students because of its small community.
