plant a seed campaign

The Annual Fund supports La Pietra's most immediate needs. Through the Plant a Seed Campaign, we invite each family to contribute to the Fund. Every gift, no matter the size, shows commitment to our students and our school's mission.

Plant a Seed runs from October 1-31, and our goal is 100% participation!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

**What is Plant A Seed?
Plant a Seed is the yearly parent/ guardian giving program that supports our Annual Fund. It offers a unique opportunity for parents to contribute directly to the continued growth of our students.

**What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund helps bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a La Pietra education, which includes teacher compensation, supplies and equipment purchases, professional development, new technology, and campus maintenance. It provides flexible funding for both expected costs and more urgent, unexpected needs.

**Why should I contribute to Plant a Seed?
Participating in Plant a Seed is essential because it ensures the financial health of our school and demonstrates our community's shared commitment to the school and its mission. High participation signals to other donors that our families are fully invested in our mission and encourages alumnae, major donors, foundations, and other supporters to join in supporting La Pietra. Donations to the Annual Fund campaign are a collective effort, with contributions from our Board of Trustees, our alumnae, past parents, and our faculty and staff. High participation in Annual Fund giving indicates institutional strength, stability, and unity.

**If I decide to contribute, how much am I expected to give?
There is no set amount; regardless of size, every contribution makes a difference. We encourage you to make a gift that is meaningful to your family. Most families give between $50 and $250, although gifts can range from $5 to $2,500.

**How does the Plant a Seed competition work?
This year, the middle school (grades 6-8) will compete against the high school (grades 9-12) for 100% participation. Lower vs. upper school progress will be tracked and updated daily on the Plant a Seed tree in the front driveway and weekly through the Daily Bulletin. At the end of the month, the group with the highest participation level will win a prize for their teamwork.

**We are a two-parent household with one La Pietra student. Do we both need to make a gift?
No. If two parents of one student each make a gift, it will only count once for their grade.

**I have two La Pietra students. Do I need to make two gifts?
No. You can make one gift and designate that it count toward your students' grades.

**How can I make a gift?
Gifts can be made one of two ways:

  1. Credit card - click here to donate online.
  2. Check - made out to La Pietra - Hawai'i School for Girls and mailed or dropped off at the Main Office.

Please include your name and your child's grade with your gift.

**I have more questions. Who can I contact?
