Hawai‘i School for Girls Shares Kahiau Spirit During Annual Special Guest Day

March 2nd, 2026

Student Special Guest Day Committee member shares details on the school tradition.

Hawai‘i School for Girls is set to host its annual Special Guest Day on Friday, March 6. This beloved school tradition brings students from neighboring public schools in pre-kindergarten through third grade with special needs to the La Pietra campus for a celebration of community.

Planned and led entirely by Hawai‘i School for Girls students, the day comes to life through their creativity and leadership. From the moment guests arrive, students create a welcoming experience grounded in inclusion, kindness, and kahiau—selfless giving. Over 60 students from Haleʻiwa Elementary School and Waikīkī Elementary School are expected to join the fun.

“Special Guest Day is a part of what makes La Pietra so unique,” said Juliette Conklin, a sophomore on the student committee that plans the event. “Now being on the committee, it provides an opportunity to be a leader and a role model to some of my younger peers. Just seeing their faces and how much they enjoy it is really special to me.”

This year’s theme is “Candy Land,” and guests will be paired with Hawai‘i School for Girls students to enjoy a variety of activities–including pony rides, a petting zoo, a bounce house, and carnival games. Additionally, members of the Honolulu Fire and Police Departments will be on hand to give students an up-close look at emergency vehicles, including a fire engine, police car, and ATVs. Young guests will also have the chance to create their own Keiki ID.
