Senior Kathryn S. wins Honorable Mention for her photo, "Goons"
You'll soon be able to see senior Kathryn S.'s award-winning photography at Windward Community College! After receiving Honorable Mentions in this year's Scholastic Art Awards, two of Kathryn's photos, "Goons" and "The Road," will be on display at the Iolani Gallery from April 1 - May 1. An Artist Reception will also be held there on Friday, April 1, from 4 - 7 p.m.
The 59th Annual Hawaii Regional Scholastic Art Honorable Mention Awards serves to recognize creative excellence among Hawaii's private and public school students in grades 7-12.
Back in February, senior Eva H. also earned a Silver Key in the Scholastic Art Awards for her photograph entitled, "A Sunday Afternoon Daydream."
Founded in 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the nation's longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens.
Eva and Kathryn's entries were selected by some of the foremost leaders in visual arts. Judges look for works that demonstrate the Scholastic Art Awards' core values: originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Entries are selected without knowledge of a student’s personal information, including gender, age, ethnicity, or hometown.
