La Pietra celebrates diverse community on Intl. Women's Day

On this International Women’s Day (IWD), La Pietra is joining in the worldwide movement to imagine an inclusive world free of bias and discrimination, a world in which difference is valued and celebrated. Today, we also celebrate our own community of diverse and inspiring young women, each of whom are on their own journey to discover their unique sense of purpose.
"Every day, our students, teachers and staff work hard to engage, empower, and advance the cause of gender equality. Yet even so, International Women’s Day is special to us at La Pietra - Hawai‘i School for Girls," said Head of School Josh Watson, Ed.D.
"It is a day to reflect on and reinforce the values that make our school so special and our work so important. All around the world today, people of all walks of life — including La Pietra students and alums — are giving extra attention to making our world a better place for girls and women. I encourage you to take a moment today to think, say, or do something that gives a woman in your life a wonderful day and that contributes to a better future," Watson said.
Marla A. describes how La Pietra has put her daughters, Elyssa and Alynna, on a path to discover their purpose
In these IWD student stories, you’ll hear how Marla A. has seen her daughters, sophomore Elyssa and sixth grader Alynna, grow not only in confidence but also in their love of learning and giving back to the community. You’ll see how sophomore Remy K. has been able to take her learning into her own hands to better explore her purpose and creativity at LP. You’ll hear why LP is the right place for girls who want to be emboldened to be themselves.
La Pietra believes in a diverse, equitable, and accessible world every day, not just on International Women’s Day. We believe a La Pietra education should be in reach for every girl who wants it, and we stand behind that belief by awarding over half a million dollars in financial aid every year.
