HOOPLA 2018

We want to express our deepest gratitude for your support of HOOPLA 2018. Thanks to your generosity, we raised $436,725 for financial aid - exceeding our goal by over 9%. How is this possible? It is possible because each and every one of you pitched in and contributed to the success of HOOPLA 2018: No Ball at All.

The support, excitement and sheer determination of our community has won the day. We started the year with a new Head of School and a new Director of Advancement - neither of whom had ever experienced HOOPLA. Having a “virtual HOOPLA” this year allows us to refocus and plan for HOOPLA 2019 in celebration of our fifty years on the La Pietra campus.

To all of you, our heartfelt thanks for believing in us and allowing our virtual dream to come true. We look forward to seeing you at HOOPLA 2019.

We would also like to thank HOOPLA committee members Dr. Josh Watson, Randi Silleck-Conway ’69, Debbie Weil-Manuma ’75, Lauran Bromley ’76, Wendy Crabb, Dawn MacNaughton, Blair Parry-Okeden ’68, Liza Lee, and Keala O'Sullivan.

Mahalo For Your Support!

I am a La Pietra Student and I am ready to make a difference!

Sixth grader, Infinity Reasoner, has big goals and dreams for herself. She is active in her community and understands the concept of kahiau, which is to give with no expectation of return or reward.

Arisa Ching is a La Pietra 10th Grader who is dominate in the field of Science. She is an active member of La Pietra's Science Olympiad Team and is always ready to make a difference in the lives of others and the role that she has on the team.

Senior, Lanihuli Gilbert, has had to learn how to deal with dyslexia throughout her school career, but because of the individualized and supportive environment that La Pietra offers, it has helped Lanihuli breakdown barriers and thrive!

Ten Kusaka '20 is a force to be reckoned with. As a student-athlete, Ten excels in the classroom and on the water. During her kayaking season she won the Junior Varsity 2000 meter ILH distance season series and championship race. She is also an avid canoe paddler and represented La Pietra & Pac-5 at the 2018 HHSAA Canoe Paddling Championships.
9th Grader, Madison Lee, has always had an entrepreneurial mindset. At the age of 14, she obtained her business license and is successfully selling her jewelry in three retail stores. Her persistence and confidence has helped her to continue and expand her business.

All proceeds benefit the Financial Aid Program of La Pietra - Hawaii School for Girls.
