First Day Of School – Wednesday, August 8, 2012
School re-opens for a full day at 7:45 AM on Wednesday, August 8th. Dismissal is at 3:00 PM. The Learning Center will be open for students at 6:30 AM, and closes at 4:00 PM daily.
Arrival and Parking
Use only the front parking lot to drop off students. Pull around the banyan tree as far as possible and unload quickly. Please exercise caution at all times. If you MUST park, use only the marked Visitor stalls. Limited student parking (by permit only) is in the upper lot. Upper lot access is ONE-WAY up in the morning, and ONE-WAY down in the afternoon. The campus speed limit is 5 miles per hour. The lower courtyard & middle parking area are for faculty parking only – no drop-offs there, please.
Lunches
Girls who bring their own lunches may place their clearly marked lunches on the table outside the lower kitchen when they arrive each morning. Our housekeeper will move them to the refrigerator, and put them out again for the lunch period. Hot lunches and ala carte items will be available for purchase from our caterer, Michi’s Cooking Fresh for You. More information about the lunch program is included in this packet.
Snack Cards
(used to purchase milk, juice, ice cream, muffins, etc. In the lower kitchen) may also be purchased in the Main Office on Orientation Day in $5, $10, or $20 increments. Snacks will NOT be sold during the lunch period.
First Day Only
Everyone will assemble in the courtyard when the first bell rings at 7:45 AM. After brief announcements, students will meet with their Hui advisors to review student schedules.
Sports
La Pietra sports teams are divided into four levels 6th grade; intermediate (grades 7-9); Junior Varsity (grades 9-11); and Varsity (grades 9-12). We have a place for everyone who wants to compete, play or learn a sport. Get involved – make friends and be healthy – join a team this year at La Pietra! If you plan to participate in athletics, you must have the Physical Examination for Athletes (blue card) completed by a doctor and returned to the office.
Physical Education (P.E.)
On the first day of P.E., you will need a combination lock, the P.E. uniform (available at Potpourri), and athletic shoes (no black soles). P.E. grades are based on attitude; participation; sportsmanship; progress; and being present on time, in complete uniform.
