World Peace Day at La Pietra

Established by the United Nations in 1981, International Day of Peace, a.k.a. "World Peace Day" provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date. La Pietra students and staff showed their support by wearing white and participating in dedicated activities across the campus.

Social Studies teacher Julie Dinius invited participants to add their thoughts to her Peace Banner by answering the question, “How do YOU envision world peace?”

Responses included:
"Peace is about loving and being loved so on September 21st stretch out your hand by using your heart." Lanihuli Gilbert '18

"Don't judge a book by it's cover." Katy Hessenflow '16

"The secret to peace is … not having what you want but wanting what you have." Anonymous 6th grade student

Additional activities included participating in a global moment of silence and watching global broadcasts of UN Peace Messengers & Ambassadors.
