Creativity Thrives in Middle School Theatre Classes

La Pietra Middle School Theatre students prepared a “fantasy commercial” for a class performance project. Students from Ms. Harter’s classes formed groups of two or three to create a fictional product. Each group collaborated together on building slogans and catchy phrases for their commercial presentation. During their block schedule class, each group continued to work on developing creative ideas and performances for their ultimate “fantasy commercial”.

As the final step in the process, each group took their commercial to the stage. Students had to demonstrate their skills and knowledge about performing by using a few of their theatre skills they had acquired: starting from a still point, memorizing their lines, using expressions and stage movements.

The “fantasy commercials” were creative and fun, all the while, articulating the marketing techniques used in selling a wide variety of products. Congratulations to Ms. Harter and her A & C Block students, on a job well done.
