Sunset Jazz 2012 kicked off with the smooth vocal talents of Shari Lynn and Jimmy Borges. It ended with guests dancing on the Great Lawn to the Latin drumbeat of Son Caribe. In between, there was a little something for everyone.
The annual benefit concert, hosted by Lynn and Borges on September 9, drew 300 attendees to the La Pietra campus for a breezy evening of music under the stars. The eclectic lineup of musicians included Hawai'i’s “First Lady of Jazz,” Betty Loo Taylor, Bryon Yasui & Benny Chong, and Son Caribe. One of the highlights was a flawless performance of Inseparable by La Pietra senior Anie Haywood.
In addition to the wonderful music, guests were treated to desserts prepared by Chef Eberhard Kintscher of Michel’s at the Colony Surf and wine courtesy of JMD Beverages.
