Two La Pietra students, Lily Hui (’12) and Ariana Ebesu (’14), recently participated in the 2012 Chinese Storytelling Contest sponsored by the Chinese Language Education Association of Hawaii (CLEAH). The Saturday event was held at the University of Hawaii Campus ballroom.

Ms. Xue Ma, the girls’ teacher, praised her students, saying, “Lily and Ariana spent personal time using the language and cultural skills they acquired in Chinese class. The journey was exciting and challenging for all of us. I am proud of both girls.”

This is the first such Chinese story-telling contest to be held in Hawaii. Ms. Xue Ma is a board member of CLEAH and worked with the other board members to make the event a reality.
