It is the goal of the Fine Arts Department to stimulate creativity, curiosity, personal growth, and joy through the teaching of drama, music, and visual arts. The curriculum addresses different learning styles through the use of a variety of techniques and media.
The Fine Arts student will learn to create and interpret visual, written, and aural experiences, such as artwork, play text, and theatrical and musical performances. Students will design and create 2D and 3D art including drawings, paintings, photographs, prints, ceramics, jewelry, fiber arts and computer-generated work. Those interested in performing arts may participate in scenes and plays, as well as choral and solo performances.
The Fine Arts student will gain an understanding of the role of fine arts in history and culture and an appreciation of traditional and contemporary styles in visual art, drama and music.
La Pietra’s Guest Artist Program brings professional artists on campus to work directly with students, giving them exposure to high-level work and broadening perspectives.
