HEALTH INFORMATION: All students new to Hawai’i must have a complete physical examination before entering school. Additionally, returning 7th graders must provide a 7th grade Student Immunization Record by the first day of school. These forms were mailed out earlier. Contact Mrs. Higuchi, the Registrar, if you have any questions.

EMERGENCY INFORMATION FORM: This form contains the data we have for you in our system currently. Please make any additions or corrections necessary and return the form to the main office on the first day of school, so we may update our system.

BOOKS: La Pietra will no longer sell books. We now have an agreement with ‘ike pono, a local book-seller (phone 546-2222) who services most private schools on Oahu. Parents will be able to purchase books from their store in Kaka’ako, (with Saturday hours and lots of parking), or from their website www.coursetextbooks.com. Of course, parents are still free to purchase books from any retailer they wish, or from other students. They also have a selection of used books available. Textbooks sales for 2008-2009 began on July 21st.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL – Monday, August 11, 2008: School re-opens for a full day at 7:45 AM on Monday, August 11. Everyone will assemble in the courtyard when the first bell rings at 7:45. After a brief meeting, students will meet with their hui advisors to go over schedules. Dismissal is at 3:00 PM. The library will be open for students at 6:30 AM, and closes at 4:00 PM.

ARRIVAL AND PARKING: Use only the front parking lot to drop off students. Pull around the banyan tree as far as possible and unload quickly. Please exercise caution at all times. If you MUST park, use only the marked Visitor stalls. Limited student parking (by permit only) is in the upper lot. Upper lot access is ONE-WAY up in the morning, and ONE-WAY down in the afternoon. The campus speed limit is 7 miles per hour. The lower courtyard & middle parking area are for faculty parking only – no drop-offs there.

LUNCHES: On arrival, girls place their clearly marked lunches on the table outside the kitchen. If purchasing hot lunch, you may pre-order by 10:30 AM at Tyna’s Kitchen in the gym.

SPORTS: La Pietra sports teams are divided into four levels: 6th grade; intermediate (grades 7-9); Junior Varsity (grades 9-11); and Varsity (grades 9-12). We have a place for everyone who wants to compete, play or learn a sport. Get involved – make friends and be healthy. Join a team this year at La Pietra. If you plan to participate in athletics, you must have the Physical Examination for Athletes form completed by a doctor and returned to the office.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (P.E.): On the first day of P.E., you will need a combination lock, the P.E. uniform, and athletic shoes (no black soles). P.E. grades are based on attitude; participation; sportsmanship; progress; and being present, on-time and in complete uniform.
