POSITION:
Director of Curriculum

CLASSIFICATION:
Full-Time, Salaried, Administrative, Exempt

REPORTS TO:
Head of School

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrates knowledge of grade 6-12 curriculum and various professional development programs; ability to effectively communicate knowledge and skills to other teaching staff; skills to manage the work, set priorities, and evaluate progress toward outcomes; interpersonal skills necessary to work cooperatively and effectively with individuals and groups.

Education, Training and Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Education or closely related field; advanced degree preferred. Successful teaching experience at middle and upper school level; experience in developing curriculum and providing staff development activities. Administrative experience desirable.
* More than 5 years experience with working knowledge of instructional methods; organizational skills to handle multiple projects.
* Skills in assessment, educational planning, program and project planning and management.
* Expert knowledge of data analysis and evaluation techniques.
* Excellent communication skills - both oral and written.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIITES:
* Develop, refine and articulate La Pietra's curriculum.
* Outline the scope and sequence of the skills and subject areas taught to students.
* Articulate the vision for, and overall curriculum goals, based on the mission and philosophy of the school.
* Develop strategies for achieving department and school wide goals.
* Develop benchmarks and outcomes for student and teacher progression.
* Review all proposed changes to the curriculum and provide yearly updates to the Head of School.
* Assist faculty in developing a detailed curriculum, and provide opportunities for integrating instruction.
* Serve as a resource for faculty, recommending workshops, speakers, programs, school observations, and other professional development opportunities.
* Coordinate textbook reviews with department chairs on a regular basis.
* Conduct a minimum of two workshops per year to keep faculty informed of current trends/research in curriculum and instruction.
* Make recommendations to administration regarding problems or concerns relating to curriculum.
* Network with curriculum directors at other educational institutions.
* Coordinate the development of curriculum and implementation processes for content standards and curricular frameworks.
* Support the school and its leadership.
