UPPER SCHOOL/MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER - La Pietra - Hawaii School for Girls is seeking applicants for the position of Upper School/Middle School Social Studies teacher, grades 7-12 for the 2016-2017 school year. A successful candidate will hold a BA or MA in Social Studies or a related field, have teaching experience with both middle and high school students, preferably in an independent school, and be knowledgeable in best practices in Social Studies. This position consists of a full-time teaching load with both high school and middle school Social Studies and Yearbook courses, a homeroom responsibility, and involvement in extra-curricular and co-curricular advisory and supervisory positions as needed. Ability to successfully collaborate with other teachers, effectively communicate within the school community, and positively impact the learning of students is essential. SUMMER SPORTS CAMP INSTRUCTOR Do you love sports? Do you love working with students ages 10 – 14? La Pietra – Hawaii School for Girls is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Summer Sports Camp Instructor to oversee and teach La Pietra’s Summer Sports Camp for 2016 from June 13 to July 22, 3:00 to 5:15 pm, Monday – Friday. The instructor will expose students to a variety of sports throughout the 6-week program, and will utilize La Pietra’s outstanding athletic facilities on a daily basis.

La Pietra’s Summer Sports Camp offers a positive learning experience for the novice, average, and competitive athlete. The instructor will help make a positive impact on students by promoting self-confidence and sportsmanship. The instructor will teach girls proper techniques and skill development, while focusing on personal development and physical fitness. Skills will be built upon throughout the program through a variety of sports, including team and individual sports, and physical activities incorporating drills, games, and fun!

Background and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred; College and Graduate Students over age 18 who enjoy working in education, coaching, and teaching, especially teaching sports and physical education, with students ages 10 -14, are also welcome to apply.
  • CPR and Lifeguard Certification Required Before Start of Program
  • Experience coaching a variety of sports and/or teaching sports/athletic activities to students (including but not limited to basketball, volleyball, swimming, tennis, soccer, archery, and more!) is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to work with the La Pietra community (students, parents, staff, teachers, administrators)
  • Ability to create lesson plans and lead sports camp activities that fit the needs of the enrolled student athletes in the camp and submit lesson plans and attendance sheets in a timely manner.
  • The ability to ensure the supervision, safety and well-being of the students in the sports camp at all times
